How to Fix Smart Board or Epson Display When It Shows “No Signal”
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 – Connect and Duplicate the Display
1. Plug the HDMI cable from your laptop into the SmartBoard or Epson projector.
2. Wait a few seconds for your laptop to detect the display.
3. Press Windows + P on your keyboard.
4. From the sidebar menu that appears, select Duplicate.
○ This will mirror your laptop screen onto the SmartBoard or projector.
5. If the display still shows “No Signal,” continue with the steps below.
Step 2 – Open Display Settings
1. Right-click anywhere on your desktop.
2. Select Display settings.
3. Scroll down and click Advanced display.
Step 3 – Select the Correct Display
1. At the top of the Advanced Display page, find the drop-down menu titled
“Select a display to view or change its settings.”
2. Click it and choose Display 2 — usually labelled as SBID (for SmartBoard) or Epson
(for projector).
○ This ensures you’re adjusting the settings for the external display, not your
laptop screen.
Step 4 – Change the Refresh Rate
1. Under Choose a refresh rate, click the drop-down list.
2. Select 30 Hz (or 29 Hz if 30 Hz isn’t listed).
3. The screen may flicker briefly — this is normal.
4. Wait a few seconds; the SmartBoard or projector should now display properly.
Step 5 – Confirm the Display
● If the image looks stable and clear — ✅ you’re done!
● If it still flickers or says “No Signal,” lower the display resolution to 1920 × 1080,
then repeat Step 4.
